Certificate II in Workplace Skills

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of entry-level Business Services job roles.

Course overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce, and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work.

These individuals carry out a range of basic procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require self-management and technology skills. They perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context. Individuals in these roles generally work under direct supervision.

NOTE: Enrolments in this course can be taken ALL YEAR ROUND.

Packaging rules

Total number of units = 10
5 core units plus 5 elective units of which:

  • 1 elective unit must be selected from Group A
  • 1 elective unit must be selected from Group B
  • for the remaining 3 elective units:
    – up to 3 units may be selected from Groups A, B and C
    – if not listed, up to 2 units may be selected from a Certificate I, Certificate II or Certificate III from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Group A Self-Management – must select 1 from this group

  • BSBCRT201 Develop and apply thinking and problem solving skills
  • BSBPEF201 Support personal wellbeing in the workplace

Group B Technology – must select 1 from this group

  • BSBTEC201 Use business software applications
  • BSBTEC202 Use digital technologies to communicate in a work environment

Group C Working with Others

  • BSBOPS203 Deliver a service to customers
  • SIRXCEG002 Assist with customer difficulties
  • SIRXPDK001 Advise on products and services

This qualification is eligible for funding under Smart and Skilled.

WEA Illawarra can be prevented from issuing you with a nationally recognised VET qualification or statement of attainment when you complete your course if you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you have not yet obtained a USI you can apply for it directly at usi.gov.au/students/create-usi 

NOTE: Certificates will not be issued until satisfactory completion of all assessment requirements and all payments for the course have been received.
