This isn’t a call for generalists. It’s a call for people with real industry experience and the skills, credentials and heart to bring it into the classroom in a way that genuinely changes what learners believe is possible for them.
Trainers and Assessors at The Community College deliver high-quality accredited training and conduct competency-based assessment within our RTO (RTO 90297). The role works in partnership with our Program Specialists to deliver programs aligned to learner needs, industry requirements, and ASQA regulatory standards.
This is a community-facing role, not just a classroom one. You will work with diverse cohorts of learners, including people with language, literacy, numeracy and digital skill needs, so you will be someone who can bring patience, professionalism and genuine engagement to every interaction.
We’re looking for experienced trainers who share our values and are genuinely committed to meeting community learning needs. You don’t need to have worked in an RTO before, and if you’re new to that world but confident in your industry expertise, we’d still love to hear from you. What matters most is that you hold the right credentials, know your industry deeply, and know how to work with people, especially those who are still finding their feet.

The Community College by WEA Co is inviting expressions of interest from people who are skilled in their field and passionate about sharing that knowledge with others. We’re building a pool of Leisure Program Tutors to deliver non-accredited programs that help adult learners develop skills, explore interests, and connect with their community.
This is an ongoing expression of interest. Registered candidates will be contacted as suitable program opportunities arise across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and Southern Highlands regions.
Leisure Program Tutors design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and learner-centred sessions within The Community College’s Leisure Skills Program. You’ll work with adult learners from diverse backgrounds, creating welcoming environments where people feel confident to participate, try something new, and keep coming back.
The role is casual and flexible. You’ll propose your own course, set your preferred schedule, and deliver in a way that suits your subject and your learners. Whether you run a single session or a multi-week program, the focus is always on creating a positive and memorable learning experience.
Courses may be delivered at our Wollongong campus or at agreed locations across the region. We welcome proposals from tutors across all areas, such as arts and crafts, cooking, technology, languages, music, movement, writing, wellness, and beyond.
We’re looking for people who are genuinely skilled in what they do and who enjoy sharing that with others. Formal teaching qualifications are not required — what matters most is your subject matter expertise, your ability to engage a group, and your commitment to creating a positive learning experience.
