Certificate I in Workplace Skills

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of entry-level Business Services job roles.

Course overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work. They may undertake a variety of simple tasks under close supervision.

This qualification provides a range of introductory skills and knowledge to provide individuals with an understanding of the business environment.

Packaging rules

Total number of units = 6
2 core units plus 4 elective units of which:

  • 2 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed below
  • for the remaining 2 elective units:
    – up to 2 units may be selected from the elective units listed below
    – if not listed, up to 2 units may be selected from a Certificate I or Certificate II from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

  • BSBCMM211 Apply communication skills
  • BSBCRT201 Develop and apply thinking and problem-solving skills
  • BSBOPS201 Work effectively in business environments
  • BSBPEF201 Support personal wellbeing in the workplace
  • BSBPEF202 Plan and apply time management
  • BSBSUS211 Participate in sustainable work practices
  • BSBTEC203 Research using the internet
  • BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others
  • FSKDIG002 Use digital technology for routine and simple workplace tasks

Please contact 02 4226 1622 to arrange an interview with our Student Support Officer to ensure the course is right for you, discuss and choose your elective units and receive a final quote before enrolling.

This qualification is eligible for funding under Smart and Skilled.

WEA Illawarra can be prevented from issuing you with a nationally recognised VET qualification or statement of attainment when you complete your course if you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you have not yet obtained a USI you can apply for it directly at usi.gov.au/students/create-usi 

NOTE: Certificates will not be issued until satisfactory completion of all assessment requirements and all payments for the course have been received.
