Certificate I in Access to Vocational Pathways

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of entry-level Business Services job roles.

Course overview

This qualification is designed for individuals who require significant foundation skills support to access a vocational learning pathway.

The qualification is suitable for individuals who require:

  • a prevocational pathway to employment and vocational training
  • reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 1
  • entry level digital technology and employability skills.
  • Foundation Skills Training Package qualifications may not be listed as an entry requirement for vocational qualifications.
Packaging rules

Total number of units = 11
1 core unit plus 10 elective units. The electives are to be chosen as follows:

  • up to 4 units may be selected from Group A
  • at least 5 units must be selected from Group B
  • 1 unit must be selected from any currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course other than FSK
  • remaining units may be selected from the FSK training package or any currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course.
  • Elective units must be relevant to vocational pathways and not duplicate the outcomes of already selected units.

Please contact 02 4226 1622 to arrange an interview with our Student Support Officer to ensure the course is right for you, discuss and choose your elective units and receive a final quote before enrolling.

This qualification is eligible for funding under Smart and Skilled.

WEA Illawarra can be prevented from issuing you with a nationally recognised VET qualification or statement of attainment when you complete your course if you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you have not yet obtained a USI you can apply for it directly at usi.gov.au/students/create-usi 

NOTE: Certificates will not be issued until satisfactory completion of all assessment requirements and all payments for the course have been received.
